Facebook Focus: Give your Brand a Face (and a Personality)

Many advertisers and companies today are using Facebook as a tool to sell their products and services, and create an identity for their brand.  Taking advantage of a free Fan Page on the biggest social networking site in the world is a great way to advertise, but it’s not always an effective selling strategy.

Companies that simply “push product” are abusing Facebook in a way that may actually deter customers from becoming a fan, as well as shopping at their store or site.  So not only are you  wasting time, energy and efforts with a SELL, SELL, SELL strategy, you may be more at risk by actually boring a potential and influential audience base.

The social networking aspect of today’s use of Facebook provides forward-thinking companies with tremendous opportunities to develop a more “personal” relationship with prospects and customers that creates a comfort-level with a specific brand, product or service. Think of Facebook as the opportunity to create a face for your company on an emotional and intellectual level as opposed to a product level.

Today, more progressive companies are trying to maximize their presence on Facebook to get reviews, opinions and ideas from their consumers. Not only is the information beneficial to the company, it shows the audience that you’re indeed interested in their feedback.

Tell us: how are you using Facebook?

Why Do I need to Advertise Online?

Your customer is looking for you online.  If you are not there, your competitors will be and they’re happy to take your business.

Still need more convincing? Maybe you don’t think internet advertising is worthy of your marketing dollars. Well, read on.

Two of the most common myths about online usage:

1.)    It’s just for young people.

False: 46% of 44-62 year-olds are using the internet and social media to network, communicate and shop. Sure, youngsters are the first to adopt new technological changes. But the internet isn’t new- mainstream internet is over 15 years old. Adults have had time to learn the ins-and-outs of the world wide web, and are now mastering the art of online shopping and researching on a daily basis.

2.) My target demographic doesn’t shop or browse online.

False: Your target demographic is actually the fastest growing segment of online shoppers and social media users. Face it, you may still have much to learn about the real on-goings of your target demo (and we’ll discuss her more in detail in the future). But one thing’s for sure, she is going to do her research… online!
